Terms of Use

These terms set the ground rules for using Anonium. Please read them before using the app.

Agreement and eligibility

By installing or using Anonium, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. You must meet the minimum age shown in the app-store listing and any higher minimum age required where you live.

The service

Anonium provides text-based anonymous messaging through shareable links. People can write to a link from the Anonium app or from a web browser, and conversations are limited to text and Anonium's own stickers. Anonymity can be affected by what people write, how a link is shared, information available outside Anonium, or access to a device. Do not rely on the service where personal safety, legal rights or other serious interests depend on guaranteed anonymity or message delivery.

Use good judgement: a link shared privately with one person does not create the same anonymity as a link shared with a broad audience.

Acceptable use

Anonymity is not a licence to harm people. You must not use Anonium to:

  • harass, threaten, stalk, exploit, blackmail or defraud anyone;
  • share unlawful sexual content or any content that exploits or endangers a minor;
  • incite violence, self-harm, hatred or other unlawful conduct;
  • impersonate, deanonymise, track or invade another person’s privacy;
  • distribute malicious material or infringe intellectual-property or other rights;
  • automate, overload, reverse engineer or bypass limits and protective measures; or
  • break applicable law.

We may investigate reports, restrict functionality, block access, preserve relevant information or take other proportionate action where reasonably necessary to protect people, the service or legal rights. Serious matters may be referred to appropriate authorities where required.

Child safety

Child sexual abuse material and any conduct that exploits, sexualises, grooms or endangers a minor are strictly prohibited. Confirmed violations result in permanent loss of access and reporting where required by law. See our child safety standards.

Your content and reports

You remain responsible for content you send and retain your rights in it. You grant Modullium the limited permission necessary to transmit content and, when you deliberately submit a report, to review and act on the submitted material. You must have the right to send anything you provide through the service.

Sponsored placements

Anonium may show a limited sponsor panel to help fund the service. It uses no ad network or behavioural targeting, and sponsors receive no personal information.

Links and @usernames

Your links and @username point to you, but they remain part of the service. A custom @username is a Supporter benefit. If your Supporter subscription ends, the name stays reserved for you and its link is paused until you resubscribe; it is not released to anyone else while your account exists. Deleting your account releases it. A username you give up is held for a period before anyone else can claim it. Usernames are 8 to 20 characters. Names of well-known people, brands, organisations and the app itself, and names that look like them, are not available. We may refuse, reclaim or rename a username that impersonates someone, infringes rights, misleads people or is offensive, and we may retire a link that is being used to break these terms.

Supporters subscriptions

Supporters is an optional recurring subscription sold through Google Play or the Apple App Store. The price, billing period and renewal terms are shown before purchase. Manage or cancel it through the store account used to subscribe. More information is available in the Refunds and subscriptions page.

Consumer rights, and who sells you the subscription

Supporters is sold through Google Play or the Apple App Store, and Google or Apple is the seller for that purchase. Your payment, billing period, renewal, cancellation and refund all run through the store account you used, under that store's terms, and the store — not Modullium — is the merchant you contracted with for the transaction. We set the price and decide what the subscription includes; the store collects the money.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a distance contract. Digital content delivered immediately is an exception: when you buy Supporters, access begins at once, and by completing the purchase you ask for that immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose the 14-day withdrawal right once delivery has begun. The store presents this at checkout.

None of this limits the rights your own national consumer law gives you, which apply whatever these terms say. Our own approach to refunds, including cases a store's policy does not cover, is described in the Refunds and subscriptions page, and you can always write to us.

Availability, changes and termination

The service may change, be limited, interrupted or discontinued. We may apply reasonable usage limits and update features to maintain reliability, security or compliance. You may stop using Anonium at any time, and you can delete your account and its server data from the app (see Delete your account). We may suspend or end access where these terms are breached or where necessary to protect users, Modullium or the service.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Anonium is provided “as is” and “as available,” without promises that it will always be available, error-free, secure or suitable for a particular purpose. Message delivery and locally stored history are not guaranteed, and encrypted messages that are not collected by the recipient's app within 14 days are deleted.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Modullium will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive loss, loss of local data, missed messages, or the conduct or content of users. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, and the courts of Karachi have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and it does not stop you bringing a claim in your local courts where that law allows it.

Changes and severability

We may update these terms. Material changes will be communicated where required, and the effective date will identify the current version. If part of these terms is unenforceable, the remaining terms continue to apply. Applicable mandatory law governs regardless of anything written here.
